Vinita Chanan

Vinita Chanan is the Executive Director, University Strategy at UNSW Sydney. She heads up the Strategy Office, working on implementation of UNSW's institutional strategy. Previously, she was Director and Executive Lead, Strategic Alliances and Initiatives, responsible for developing impactful domestic and global partnerships and alliances in diverse sectors including engineering, health, digital education, quantum technologies and climate. Vinita also led the development of UNSW’s Greater Sydney Strategy until July 2025. Her previous experience spans over 25 years in higher education with roles including industry and government engagement on research, bid development and program management for international aid projects with multilateral and bilateral agencies, philanthropy, government and industry. Vinita has had a career as a researcher in environmental management. She holds an MBA and a Master of Environmental Management and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
